Eligibility Criteria
Once the results are declared, the next step is the counselling process for NEET exam candidates. Only those candidates are eligible for counselling who have cleared NEET cut off declared by the NTA. The cut-off score is the minimum score required to clear the NEET exams as the qualifying score. The qualifying percentile for different is as mentioned below:
- Candidates must have obtained the required aggregate marks in the qualifying examinations:
- General category- 50th percentile
- OBC/SC/ST category- 40th percentile
- Physically handicapped: General category- 45th percentile
- Physically handicapped: OBC/SC/ST category- 40th percentile

M.B.B.S Admission Process
Department of Health & Family Welfare, Kolkata, is the authority responsible for conducting the West Bengal MBBS admission. The authorities release the application form for West Bengal MBBS admission tentatively in the fourth week of June every year. The West Bengal NEET admission is granted on the basis of scores obtained in NEET. Candidates need to qualify the entrance examination by obtaining the minimum NEET cut off percentile. For the West Bengal NEET admission, aspirants have to get themselves registered by filling the application form. Candidates will have to participate in a document verification session for counselling of West Bengal NEET, after the completion of registration process. Based on the document verification process authority will release the West Bengal MBBS merit list which is followed by choice filling, seat allotment process. Aspirants need to note that the mode of counselling will be online for both the rounds of counselling for the West Bengal MBBS admission and if required the authority will conduct an extra mop-up round.
Selection Procedure:
- First, candidates have to appear in the NEET entrance exam to get admission. After that the result will be announced along with ranks secured by the candidates.
- Qualified candidates will be able to participate in the counselling process as per their performance in the entrance exam. During the counselling procedure, candidates will be required to choose the colleges where they are looking for admission.
- The seats will be allotted to the candidates after document verification. As per the rank obtained, options filled and seat availability, the seats will be allotted to the candidates.
- After seat allotment procedure, candidates will have to reach the allotted college/university/institution to complete admission formalities.

NRI Candidates
- The following students are considered for the NRI quota.
- The aspirant must be an Indian Origin settled in foreign countries.
- Students born in foreign countries but their parents are of Indian Origin.
- Children of Indian citizens staying abroad for employment, business.
- Children of Indian citizens deputed overseas by Public Sector Undertaking.
- Children of employees of Central/ State Government on deputation period staying abroad.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must possess a valid Indian passport.
- Eligible for admission only based on their NEET score.
- NRI Quota seats will be given only for bonafide NRI’s.
- The NRI sponsored candidates must be a real blood relation to the NRI financial supporter like father, mother, brother, sister, uncle, aunty.
Additional Documents for NRI Candidates
- Notarized affidavit of the person who is NRI and the Sponsorer
- Document claiming that the Sponsorer is an NRI (valid passport, visa & Indian Embassy letter situated in that country)
- Relationship of NRI with the candidate (Notarized affidavit of family tree)
- Affidavit from Sponsorer that he / she will sponsor the entire course fee of the candidate
- Embassy certificate of the Sponsorer
Selection Procedure
Only those candidates who have successfully completed the document verification round will feature in the West Bengal MBBS and BDS merit list 2020.The candidates who are mentioned in the merit list will also begin their state ranks on the basis of NEET 2020 along with their name, NEET rank, NEET score and category basis which they have applied. Candidates who feature in the West Bengal MBBS merit list will be eligible for the state medical seat allotment round.
Migration
No application for migration to other Medical Colleges will be entertained from the students admitted to the MBBS course at this Institute. The President may grant NOC for migration of a student in the exceptional circumstances subject to prevailing rules & regulations of the NMC. However, the final approval will be granted by NMC. Enrollments
All the selected candidates admitted to the first MBBS course at JMN, under any category, are required to apply to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences on a prescribed proforma with the required fee for registration as per rules and regulations of the WBUHS, Kolkata. The admitted students must apply for enrolment as per the notification of the WBUHS.
