Celebration of the 12th International Day Of Yoga 2026 at JMN

The 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm and collective spirit at JMN Medical College and Hospital under the national initiative Yoga Sangam 2026, with the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”. The event witnessed active participation from faculty members, medical staff, administrative personnel, and students, all coming together to promote the holistic benefits of yoga for physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Prior to the commencement of the programme, participants assembled at the venue and received their designated dress kits. All attendees adhered to the prescribed dress code consisting of the JMN Yoga T-shirt and Pyjama, which had been distributed by the college. Approximately 58 participants took part in the celebration.

The session commenced promptly at 07:00 AM and was inaugurated by our esteemed faculty member Dr. Matiur Rahaman (Head of the Department, Pharmacology) and Mr. Sanjib Das (General Manager, Administration), who emphasized the significance of yoga in promoting a healthy lifestyle, mental well-being, and holistic wellness. Thereafter, Dr. Matiur Rahaman delivered the inaugural address, inspiring and encouraging all participants to embrace yoga as an integral part of their daily lives. The yoga session began with a salutation to the Sun through Surya Namaskar, demonstrated by the trained instructors Ms. Shreya Ghosh and Ms. Aditi Prasad. This was followed by a series of yoga asanas, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques, which were skillfully demonstrated and guided by the following resource persons:

Participants enthusiastically followed the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP), performing various postures and breathing exercises designed to enhance flexibility, strength, concentration, and overall health. The session reflected the spirit of the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026, fostering unity, mindfulness, and well-being among all attendees.

The event concluded with a group photograph capturing the collective spirit and enthusiasm of the participants. A nutritious breakfast comprising Dalia with vegetables, sprouts salad, banana and milk was subsequently served. The wholesome meal reinforced the programme’s emphasis on healthy living and provided a fitting conclusion to the morning’s activities.

The celebration successfully highlighted the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life and reaffirmed JMN Medical College and Hospital’s commitment to promoting health, wellness, and holistic development among its community members. In alignment with the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” the programme emphasised the role of yoga in enhancing physical vitality, mental well-being, and quality of life across all age groups, encouraging participants to adopt yoga as a lifelong practice for holistic health and active ageing.

JMN Medical College successfully organised Yoga Sangam 2026 – 12th International Day of Yoga on 21 June 2026 with enthusiastic participation from faculty members, staff, and students. In recognition of its successful conduct and contribution to the nationwide celebration of International Day of Yoga, the institution was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.
