Summary of FGD report:
- Diabetes, hypertension and cardio vascular diseases are very prevalent in the adopted villages, where they work.
- In ward 17 and 18, many tribal families live in clusters and the substance abuse, especially alcohol consumption was found to be quite higher among them. This has been identified as an important risk factor for increasing prevalence of NCDs among these tribal people.
- In spite of repeated counselling by ASHAs, the females of reproductive age groups do not attend for cervical cancer screening.
- Regular blood pressure and blood sugar screening were also not done by people above 30 years of age.
- Medicine and lifestyle modification related compliance were also found to be poor among the known diabetic and hypertensive people.
- Many people prefer to visit private clinics for their diseases and usually buy medicines from chemist shop. This leads to raised out of pocket expenditure.
